IntegriMat provides advanced tungsten carbide cladding solutions for components operating under severe abrasion, erosion and combined wear conditions.
Using IntegriClad™ tungsten carbide welding rope, a dense carbide-reinforced layer is applied to critical wear surfaces to protect both new and existing components. The flexible rope format makes the process particularly suitable for complex geometries, localized wear zones, edges, curved surfaces and components that cannot be effectively protected using conventional wear plates.
IntegriClad™ solutions are available with crushed/angular, spherical and hybrid tungsten carbide systems, allowing the carbide morphology to be selected according to the dominant wear mechanism and operating environment.

Selecting the appropriate carbide system is critical because different components experience different combinations of abrasion, erosion and impact. IntegriClad™ is available with crushed/angular, spherical and hybrid tungsten carbide systems — see the grade selection guide below.
Start with the component’s actual wear pattern. A worn-part photograph can help identify leading edges, contact surfaces and other areas that require protection. Combine this with information about the abrasive material, direction of movement, impact severity, operating temperature and current failure mode.
The next step is to review the substrate and geometry. The proposed hardfacing must suit the base material, accessible deposition areas, dimensional allowances and installation requirements. Thin sections, close-fitting surfaces and components sensitive to heating require particular attention during the engineering review.
IntegriMat considers the carbide system, protection area and deposit configuration together. Crushed/angular, spherical and hybrid systems offer different options within the IntegriClad™ range. The objective is to match the protection to the application while retaining the component’s required function and dimensions.

Mining and mineral-processing equipment is continuously exposed to abrasive ore, rock, mineral particles and impact. IntegriClad™ can be applied selectively to high-wear areas without replacing the complete component.
Typical components include:
Drilling and downhole equipment can experience severe combinations of abrasion, erosion and contact wear. Tungsten carbide cladding provides localized protection of critical surfaces while retaining the geometry and functionality of the underlying component.
Typical components include:
Tunnel boring and underground excavation equipment encounters highly abrasive rock and soil under continuous mechanical loading.
Typical components include:
Mixers processing mineral concentrates, concrete, abrasive slurries, sand and other particulate materials are particularly suitable for localized tungsten carbide cladding. The cladding can be concentrated on the leading edge and other high-wear zones rather than covering the entire component.
Typical components include:
Highly abrasive clay, chamotte and ceramic raw materials create severe sliding wear in forming, mixing and material-preparation equipment.
Typical components include:
Sand preparation and reclamation systems contain highly abrasive silica and molding materials that can rapidly wear conventional steel components.
Typical components include:
Wear occurs throughout steel production and metal-processing equipment through abrasion, sliding contact, scale and material movement.
Typical components include:
Construction and earthmoving tools experience severe abrasive contact with soil, sand, aggregate and rock.
Typical components include:
Continuous contact with sand, gravel and mineral-rich slurry can produce a combination of severe abrasion and erosion.
Typical components include:
Soil-engaging agricultural components can experience rapid abrasive wear, particularly in sandy and mineral-rich soils.
Typical components include:
Recycling and waste-processing equipment encounters abrasive particles, contaminants and mixed feed materials that cause accelerated wear.
Typical components include:
IntegriMat supports both new component manufacturing and wear-component refurbishment. Customers can provide a drawing, dimensions, photographs or an existing component for review. Based on the operating conditions and dominant wear mechanism, we can support component manufacturing, IntegriClad™ grade selection, cladding configuration and finished-part supply.
| Option | Form of wear protection | Main selection question |
|---|---|---|
| IntegriClad™ hardfacing | Carbide-reinforced deposited layer on selected surfaces | Can an appropriate deposit protect the wear zone while meeting substrate and dimensional requirements? |
| Vacuum-brazed tungsten carbide | Cemented-carbide tiles, blocks or inserts joined to a steel substrate | Would discrete carbide segments and an engineered layout suit the geometry and loading? |
| Tungsten carbide wear part | A supplied carbide component, such as a sleeve, nozzle or valve seat | Does the equipment require a separate carbide part with specified dimensions and fit? |
For components requiring carbide inserts or segments bonded to a steel substrate, explore our vacuum-brazed tungsten carbide wear solutions. For a more detailed comparison of wear protection methods, material properties, and application-based selection criteria, read our technical white paper, Comparative Evaluation of Tungsten Carbide Wear Protection Solutions. These options address different component requirements. Selection should consider the wear mechanism, impact, heat exposure, attachment method and maintenance strategy together.
Potentially. Suitability depends on the remaining material, damage, base material and required finished dimensions. Send photographs and dimensional information for review before planning refurbishment.
Not necessarily. Localized protection can target leading edges and other high-wear surfaces. Coverage should follow the actual wear pattern and component requirements.
Suitability depends on impact severity, loading, substrate support and the chosen carbide system. Abrasion resistance alone is not sufficient to assess an impact-loaded component.
Provide a drawing, dimensions, base material, photographs, operating conditions, wear-zone locations, required tolerances and quantity. Identify whether the request concerns a new part or refurbishment.
Yes. See IntegriClad™ tungsten carbide welding rope for consumable supply. For components using discrete carbide segments, review our vacuum-brazed solutions.
