IntegriClad™ Product Specifications & Applications

IntegriClad™ Tungsten Carbide Grades and Wear Protection Applications

IntegriClad™ Edge uses crushed cast tungsten carbide (WC–W₂C), with carbide hardness typically ranging from 2,100 to 2,500 HV0.1. Its angular carbide particles provide abrasion resistance for applications such as bucket teeth, augers, screw conveyors, mixer paddles, and crusher components.

IntegriClad™ Spher incorporates spherical fused tungsten carbide particles, with hardness typically ranging from 2,600 to 3,100 HV0.1. It is designed for severe abrasive and erosive wear conditions, including mining tools, dredging components, and other high-abrasion industrial applications.

IntegriClad™ Hybrid combines 75% crushed cast tungsten carbide with 25% spherical fused tungsten carbide within the carbide fraction. This engineered combination is intended to balance abrasion resistance and toughness for general hardfacing, material handling, slurry equipment, and repair applications.

The IntegriClad™ flexible welding rope system contains approximately 65 wt.% tungsten carbide and 35 wt.% NiCrBSi-based matrix. The carbide distribution illustrations above show the differences between angular, spherical, and hybrid carbide systems. Actual deposit microstructure depends on the selected grade and application procedure.

Choosing IntegriClad™ welding rope for your application

IntegriClad™ tungsten carbide welding rope is a consumable for depositing a carbide-reinforced hardfacing layer on selected component surfaces. Learn more about our tungsten carbide cladding and hardfacing solutions. It is intended for fabrication and maintenance teams that carry out the deposition process, rather than customers seeking a finished carbide wear component.

Applications for review include screw conveyors and augers, mixer paddles, wear edges, dredging components and other parts exposed to abrasive particles. Selection starts with identifying where wear occurs and whether abrasion, erosion, sliding contact or impact dominates the application. For applications requiring finished wear-resistant components rather than deposited hardfacing, explore our tungsten carbide parts and components. For components requiring pre-applied carbide wear protection, explore our vacuum-brazed tungsten carbide wear solutions as an alternative to on-site hardfacing.

Available rope diameters are 4, 5, 6 and 8 mm, with 5 kg and 15 kg spool options. Packaging configuration should be confirmed when ordering. Diameter should be selected with the component geometry, required deposit and application procedure in mind—not simply by choosing the largest rope.

IntegriClad™ includes Edge, Spher and Hybrid carbide systems. Edge uses crushed cast tungsten carbide; Spher uses spherical fused tungsten carbide; Hybrid combines the two. Share the wear conditions with IntegriMat so the carbide architecture can be considered alongside the deposition requirements. A grade name alone does not establish suitability for a particular component. For a deeper understanding of tungsten carbide welding rope technology, including material characteristics, deposition principles, and wear protection applications, read our technical white paper, Tungsten Carbide Welding Rope Technology (IM-WP-001).

Information needed for a rope recommendation

Send the component drawing or photographs, substrate material, worn-area dimensions, abrasive material, particle characteristics, impact conditions and operating temperature. Include your intended hardfacing process, available equipment, target deposit thickness and estimated material quantity. The latest IntegriClad™ catalogue specifies oxy-acetylene application; other processes require a separate compatibility review.

Welding-rope FAQs

Is welding rope the same as a finished hardfaced part?

No. Welding rope is the consumable used to create the wear-resistant deposit. If you need a protected component supplied to an approved drawing, review our tungsten carbide hardfacing and cladding solutions.

Which rope diameter should I choose?

The choice depends on the wear-zone geometry, deposition access, target thickness and procedure. IntegriMat can review your application against the available 4, 5, 6 and 8 mm options.

Can I use one welding procedure for every steel component?

No. Substrate material, section thickness, geometry and service conditions affect preparation, heating, deposition and cooling requirements. Request application-specific guidance before using a procedure on a new component.

Can I test the rope before placing a larger order?

Contact IntegriMat to discuss an industrial evaluation. Share the application, intended test method and required quantity so evaluation supply and availability can be confirmed.

Should I choose rope hardfacing or vacuum-brazed carbide?

Rope hardfacing deposits carbide particles in a metallic matrix. Vacuum-brazed wear solutions use discrete cemented-carbide tiles, blocks or inserts joined to a steel component. Geometry, wear conditions, impact and fabrication requirements guide the choice.
